Ingredients [click here for details]
Pork shoulder western style ribs 1 lb
2 green onions
2 star anise
5 cloves of garlic, sliced
ginger as big as 1 clove of garlic, sliced
3Tbsp soy sauce
5 cloves
2.5Tbsp sugar
2Tbsp dry white wine
vegitable oil
as a side: 1 cucumber ( I used 2 salad(pickle) cucumbers.), sliced

cooking Instruction
1. Cut meat into long cylindrical shape, and wrap it tightly with string.

2. Cook meat on a hot wide pan with a little of vegitable oil on a stove top till brown.
This is for getting rid of some pork fat.

3.  Remove the pork fat oil from the pan.

4. On the same pan, add 2 cups of water, 3 Tbsp of soy sauce, 2 star anise, 5 cloves, sliced garlic, sliced ginger, white parts of green onions. The green parts of green onions will be served with cooked pork after slicing them into strips.

In general, when you cook meat, put star anise or bay leaf. They add a good flavor to meat.

You can buy Star anise (and other many spices) at Indian stores. Star anise photo from wikipedia

5. Bring it to boil till half of the sauce is left. Stir occasionally.
